Cat dies in Arden house fire
SACRAMENTO, CA - Two people were able to escape an early-morning house fire on the 2800 block of Becerra Way in the Arden Arcade area.
The fire started in the garage around 4 a.m. before spreading to the house. Although two people in the home made it out without any injuries, one cat died in the fire.
J.B. Lee with Sacramento Metro Fire said the home did not have a smoke detector.
"A smoke detector would have been very, very good to alert them earlier," Lee said.
Crews are still investigating how the flames started.
