Man arrested in connection to Sacramento shooting death

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - A man was arrested in connection to shooting and killing one man and injuring another at an Arden-Arcade apartment complex early Saturday morning.

Sacramento County Sheriff's Department received a report at 1:30 a.m. early Saturday of a shooting at an apartment complex on the 1600 block of Bell Street.

Sgt. Jason Ramos said when deputies arrived at the scene, they found two men with gunshot wounds.

Ramos said an 18-year-old man was transported to the hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound to his upper body. Another man, Rickey Howard, 33, also sustained a gunshot wound to the upper body and was pronounced dead at the scene.

After several witnesses were detained for questioning, detectives learned that there was a party at the apartment when three people got into an fight, which escalated into a shooting.

Sacramento police arrest 2 in $200K State Fair robbery

SACRAMENTO: On Thursday, the Sacramento Police Department made an arrest in a robbery case stemming from 2010.

A Sacramento police report released Friday stated Gene Felder, 34, and Antonio Harvey, 52, were arrested in connection with the armed robbery of employees at a food service company working the California State Fair.

According to the report, Felder and Harvey slipped into the cash room of the food company around 10 p.m. on July 21, 2010. The two masked men then held the employees up at gunpoint and made off with $200,000 in cash.

During the initial investigation of the incident, Harvey, an employee of the food company at the time, called police and claimed he had been kidnapped. However, an investigation into his claim proved it false, leading detectives to focus on him as a suspect in the robbery, per the report.

Detectives were able to link Felder to the crime during their investigation of Harvey, according to the report.

SACRAMENTO, CA - Two men were arrested in connection to the death of a man who was shot in the buttocks.

Ceasar Williams, 27, and Michael Nunally, 28, were charged with the murder of the 29-year-old man who was shot outside of a Motel 6 in the Arden area on the night of Sept. 25, Sacramento County sheriff's Deputy Jason Ramos said.

The investigation into the shooting led police to Nunally and Williams.

Ramos said Williams was arrested on Tuesday and booked into Sacramento County Jail; Nunally was arrested at the Rio Cosumnes Correctional Center, where we was already in custody for a parole violation.

Deputies continue to investigate the shooting because there may have been other suspects involved, Ramos said.

Man, toddler attacked with machete in Arden

ARDEN-ARCADE, CA - A 24-year-old man and his 2-year-old son were attacked with a machete in an Arden neighborhood Wednesday afternoon.

The attack happened on the 2100 block of Bluebird Lane around 2:55 p.m., according to the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department.

The suspect, identified as James Norman, 30, had stopped by the house to talk with the father when the two got into an argument, deputies said. Norman allegedly grabbed his machete and started swinging it at the two.

Neighbor Donaven Tolleson was home next door when he heard screaming and ran out to see what was going on.

"I was just sitting in here and heard a bunch of screaming and we went out," Tolleson recalled. "I see this guy swinging around this machete. I ran over, and he came at me, so I said, 'I'll be right back' and went over and got my shotgun and chased the dude off."

UPDATE: Victim ID'd in suspected Arden hit and run

ARDEN, CA - A 60-year-old man died Thursday night after being run over by a cab on Fulton Avenue in the Arden area, but California Highway Patrol and UC Davis medical personnel say the taxi was likely the second vehicle to hit him.

CHP spokesman Jim Frost said officers were called to Fulton Ave. just north of Hurley Way in response to a report of a man being hit by a cab.

Upon arrival, officers found the taxi driver at the scene, but the victim, Dale Phillip Jensen, had already been transported to UC Davis medical center, said Frost.

According to Frost, the cab driver was cooperative with CHP officers and explained he was making a u-turn at a low rate of speed, did not seen Jensen laying in the road, and ran him over. An ensuing investigation confirmed the cab driver's story, said Frost.

Man dies after being shot in buttocks

ARDEN, CA - A man is dead after getting shot in the buttocks Tuesday night.

The shooting happened around 9:07 p.m. near a Motel 6 on the 2000 block Arden Way, Sacramento County Sheriff's Deputy Jason Ramos said.

According to Ramos, a motel security guard said he heard a gunshot and advised another employee to call for help.  The guard then walked the motel and found the 24-year-old man in the parking lot suffering from a single gunshot wound to the buttock.

Paramedics arrived and transported the man to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly thereafter, said Ramos.

The preliminary investigation into the shooting did not return any leads on suspects or motives, and no witnesses were located, Ramos said.

Deputies search for suspected Rio Linda home invaders

RIO LINDA, CA - A Rio Linda man was beaten with a baseball bat during an apparent home invasion Wednesday morning.

Tim Wallin, 18, was hospitalized with serious injuries after being attacked by three men, according to his father.

Another young man who was holding an ice pack to his back told Sacramento County sheriff's deputies that he, too, was struck by the intruders who forced their way through the front door.

A neighbor said the home at 1006 G Street was the scene of frequent drug activity. 

The neighbor said he found the activity especially upsetting because the house is directly across the street from the Rio Linda Preparatory Academy.

Wallin's father, Robert, said his son had been kicked out of the family's home because of bad behavior, but insisted he was not involved in drug dealing.
