Roseville cops bust suspected drug dealer

ROSEVILLE, CA - A Carmichael man is being held in Sacramento County Jail on drug possession, sales and weapon booking charges.

Michael Ramborger, 45, was arrested last week when Roseville police detectives found him with methamphetamine and heroin packaged for sales in his possession said police spokeswoman Dee Dee Gunther. Detectives also reported recovering a loaded handgun with its serial number removed from Ramborger.

Detectives suspect Ramborger of selling drugs in Roseville and other area cities, Gunther said.

Ramborger is ineligible for bail because he is believed to have violated conditions of supervised release as a state prison parolee, Gunther added. Classified as a"non-violent, non-serious, non-sex-offender," Ramborger was on probation.

Crime rising in Sacramento county, city

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) - After years of decline, authorities say crime is on the rise in the Sacramento area.

Violent crime and property crime each rose 7 percent in the city during the first six months of the year, compared with the same period last year.

The Sacramento Bee says it's the first uptick in six years.

Sacramento County's unincorporated neighborhoods and the city of Rancho Cordova, which is policed by sheriff's deputies, had an 11 percent hike in violent crime and a 6 percent rise in property crime.

The sheriff's department says it's the first crime rise since 2008.

ID theft suspects busted in credit card-skimming case

SACRAMENTO, CA - It continues to happen.

Three individuals were arrested Thursday on suspicion of identity theft and burglary after a month-long investigation in which detectives with the Sacramento County sheriff's hi tech crimes unit uncovered credit/debit card skimming devices, thousands of credit card numbers, hundreds of bogus California identification cards and numerous counterfeit credit cards.

Sacramento County sheriff's Deputy Jason Ramos said most of the skimmers were found on gas station pumps, with the devices undetectable on the front of the pumps. The pump 's front panel would have to be opened to reveal the device, which is easily installed and doesn't set up any kind of alarm and doesn't disrupt service, Ramos said.

Booked into custody on $2 million bail each were suspects Gagik Verdyan, 34; Mihran Hakobyan, 27; and Karine Khachaturyan, 20.

UPDATE: No body found in Arden backyard, sheriff says

ARDEN, CA - Sacramento County sheriff's deputies have concluded their search and excavation of the backyard of an Arden home in connection to the disappearance of a Sacramento woman.

No remains were found, Deputy Jason Ramos said.

Deputies served a search warrant at a home on the 1600 block of Stewart Road Wednesday afternoon after receiving a tip that evidence in the disappearance of Regina Garcia can be found there, Ramos said.

The home belongs to Randy Macedo, who was the boyfriend of 33-year-old Garcia, who went missing in 2008.

Deputies previously went to the home on June 7 for a welfare check on a child. Then, Ramos said deputies found explosive devices, drugs and guns. Macevo was arrested at that time.

Ramos said deputies were digging up the backyard and searching the home because they believe there may be evidence of Garcia's disappearance on the property.
