Sacramento Museums Celebrate Spring With Special Events & Activities in April!

Discover.  In addition to its fascinating Gold Rush past, the Sacramento area is rich with an amazing array of state-of-the-art museums and historic sites that offer visitors the chance to explore California’s fine art, history, science, and wildlife treasures all year long.  In April, many of the 30 members of Sacramento Association of Museums (SAM) are featuring events and activities that celebrate spring, a few of which include the following:

Earth Fest - Party for the Planet at the Sacramento Zoo -- April 5   
It’s a party for the planet! Learn how to protect and preserve the earth with environmental, wildlife and conservation organizations. During the day, Zoo visitors can explore animal bio-artifacts; participate in storytelling and activities in the Discovery Room; come face-to-face with the outreach animals; or listen as keepers present enrichment talks.  For more, visit www.saczoo.org

Celebrate World-Class Music during the 2014 Sac Music Festival - Special Pricing on Advance Tickets!

Get ready to move your feet and dance in the streets morning, noon and night when the 2014 Sacramento Music Festival & Jubilee returns over Memorial Day Weekend, May 23-26!  The four-day musical celebration will showcase nearly 100 bands playing 300 sets at 20 venues -- most within walking distance -- from Old Sacramento to the Convention Center area. A wide variety of musical styles will be featured at the 2014 Sacramento Music Festival such as American roots rock, soulful and rockin’ blues, Cajun/zydeco, country, rockability,  bluegrass, ragtime, early New Orleans jazz & swing, street beat, Latin music, big band, orchestras, banjo performances, dance and party bands, and more.

The Mama Bootcamp Clothing Swap is coming soon - Sunday May 4, 2014 to be exact!  Clear your closet and bring clothing to your  Bootcamp Coach.  All the Mamas will be given an opportunity to "shop" through the donated items on May 4 and take what they need to fit their healthier bodies.  You don't need to donate to shop, but the more donations we have, the more variety and opportunity there will be.

Assemblyman Ken Cooley Hosts District Office Open House

On Saturday, April 5, Assemblyman Ken Cooley (D-Rancho Cordova) will host his second annual open house at his district office in Rancho Cordova. During the open house, constituents will be able to talk with Assemblyman Cooley about a variety of state-related issues, hear about his 2013 and 2014 legislation, or just drop-by to say hello. The event will begin at 9:00 AM and end at 12:00 PM.

 

“In my 10 years as Mayor and Councilmember in Rancho Cordova, and now as a State Assemblyman, it has always been my priority to make myself accessible to my constituents to hear their issues at events throughout the district,” said Cooley. “This open house is an opportunity to meet with the community and explore how my district office can serve them.  In the past year, I have assisted over 400 constituents, local businesses and non-profits resolve their problems with state and local agencies.”
