Summer Food Events - What will you eat this summer?

The great thing about Sacramento is that we have food events all year long.  Our name of Farm-to-Fork Capitol is appropriate with everything from Baconfest to the Banana Festival. In fact, sometimes competition is fierce for your attention and your dollar.

We are also blessed to be in the middle of so many destinations. With Napa, Tahoe, Reno, San Francisco, Santa Cruz, Monterey/Carmel, and Yosemite so close by, there are events to select from throughout Northern California.

Below is the Foodie Calendar through September's Farm-to-Fork Festival. The ones with comments are my favorites that I return to year after year.

 Vincent DiLeo will receive “The Award Of Excellence” from the State Fair Fine Art Competition

This year there were 1,200 entries entered into the California State Fair Fine Art

Competition. Of those, only 180 artists were selected to showcase their art.

Vincent DiLeos’ photomontage, titled “Ghost Ship”, has been selected for this

award. This photomontage was created from four photographs by blending the

images together to look like one. The photograph looks like a pirate ship drifting

Midtown’s Sutter District Presents 2nd Annual Sacratomato Week & Festival - 7/20-25!

Get ready to savor the tomato when Midtown Sacramento’s Sutter District presents the second annual “Sacratomato Week” July 20-25, 2015.  New this year, the food-focused week will culminate with a FREE family friendly festival that will take place on the grounds outside of Sutter’s Fort State Historic Park (SHP) on Saturday, July 25, from 4 to 8 p.m.   The weeklong celebration of Sacramento’s signature commodity is presented by the Sutter District and sponsored by SMUD (Sacramento Municipal Utilities District) with support provided by the Midtown Business Association (MBA).

All Sutter District bars and restaurants are participating in “Sacratomato Week,” including:  Barwest, Biba, Cafe Bernardo, Centro Cocina Mexicana, Harlow’s Restaurant & Nightclub, INK Eats & Drinks, Monkey Bar, Paragary’s Midtown and Red Rabbit Kitchen & Bar.

Advance ticket sales at Walgreens, Bel-Air, Food Bank, CSD Office and Shingle Springs Cameron Park Chamber.

$3 in advance, $5 at gate (cash only), children 6 and under are FREE.

This is a ticketed event. No ice chests larger than a six-can cooler.

No BBQs, glass bottles, alcohol or fireworks.

Parking available at the Airpark. Enter off Oxford and Fairway.

Rules will be strictly enforced. Event organizers reserve the right to refuse entry.
