Get Back to Work: Business Cards

Get Back to Work: Business Cards

In my upcoming book, Get Back to Work: Smart and Savvy Real-World Strategies to Make your Next Career Move, the fourth chapter – Business Cards – shares ideas about what to put on a business card and where to print them.

Here is an excerpt from the book:

Business cards (also referred to as networking cards) are not only for those employed by businesses. Anyone seeking a new opportunity should have a business card. They are a great networking tool, so have them ready and use them.

There are many different places where you can have business cards printed. Try www.vistaprint.com and www.gotprint.net on the Internet, or use a local print shop. You can also purchase business cards at an office supply store, a Wal-Mart, or a Target. Microsoft Word can even be used to create and print them.

Strive for Strength offers great opportunity to teenage girls!

Strive for Strength is hosting a powerful daylong retreat April 14, which addresses some of the issues teenage girls are facing every day, such as family and friend relationships, bullying, social pressures and self-image.

As part of the day's event, attendees will have the opportunity to listen to leaders, who will bring their own examples of empowerment and what it means to be a young woman today. Scheduled speakers/mentors are:

*Lauren Cook - a recent graduate from UCLA with a double major in communication studies and psychology, and the author of "The Sunny Side Up!", which focuses on gratitude and goal setting.

* Noelle Bean - a singer and songwriter from Los Angeles, who says she writes about real life and wants to inspire young people through her music.

30 Minus 2 Days of Writing Challenge
Day 18: Liars

I could write a whole book about liars and how much I hate them. But then you’d be reading a very heavy tome filled with the ugly that came out of me and you’d question my ability to return from the hate abyss. You’d think of me as a hater. I’d be a big wart-nosed hater. And then you’d hate me. And you’d spray paint “hater” all over my fence even though YOU are doing it out of hate as well. And the hate would spread and infect the rest of the planet until everyone hated everybody and there would be no more ice cream and who wants that?

So, instead I will share with you something that is filled with playfulness and love that my friend, Brad, sent to me.

Also, it must be goat season as people have been throwing more of them at me lately.

The Many Lives of a Valentine Rose

Diana Westcott

As a young woman, gift roses came to me in ones and twos. It might have been a pair in a bud vase for a get well soon, or a single “I’m sorry” rose on my pillow. It was many years later that I would receive a whole dozen stems all at once. What precious bounty! Our Whole Trade® roses for Valentine’s Day are an over-the-top and knock-your-socks-off dozen and, in some stores, double dozen!
