Sacramento super chef Randall Selland shares a few secrets | News
SACRAMENTO, CA - Chef Randall Selland has been cooking his way into people's hearts for about 30 years.
"I was in a different field and while I was traveling in Europe and told my wife, 'Honey, I think I want to cook.' She said 'Okay' and I've been cooking ever since," Selland said.
Selland likes to eat, but he enjoys cooking much more.
"Standing on my feet for eight or 12 hours a day, I just love it," Selland said. "It's exciting to me."
Selland prides himself in delivery good quality food. He gets his produce from the farmers' markets and serves meats and poultry with and preservatives.
"My biggest challenge is trying to balance the cost to purchase good quality products and the price we charge for meals," Selland said.
The entire family takes part in running the business. His son handles the day-to-day operations, his daughter decorates the restaurants, and his granddaughter plays hostess at Ella in downtown Sacramento which was named after the spunky 7-year-old.
"My grandchildren have been cooking since they were 4-years-old. They have their own knives," he said.
