Renter finds mushrooms, mold growing in carpet | News
SACRAMENTO, CA - A woman is looking for answers after finding mold and mushrooms growing in the carpet of her Sacramento County apartment.
Natalie Wise said for the last year and a half, water has leaked onto the carpet here of her downstairs apartment at Diablo Riviera. She said managers at the complex have steamed, cleaned and even changed her carpet several times over the past year in an attempt to combat the issue.
Now, after finding what she says is mold and mushrooms growing from the carpet, Wise is looking for an answer because she says her son has become sick.
"My son had to stay home from school today," said Wise. "We have been in contact with his doctor by email but we are not sure how to figure out what is wrong."
The owner of Diablo Riviera did not return calls about finding mushrooms in the apartment.
Wise said moving is not an option because she's on a fixed income and cannot afford the expense.
Sacramento County officials say if anyone feels their safety is in danger should contact Code Enforcement to investigate.
Wise said she didn't contact the county.
