SACRAMENTO, CA - A man killed when the SUV he was riding in was struck from behind by a suspected drunk driver early Sunday morning was identified by the Sacramento County coroner as 30-year-old Demaris Ingram of Sacramento.

Ingram was one of two passengers ejected in the 3:46 a.m. collision on westbound El Camino Avenue approaching Colfax Street, according to Sacramento police Officer Michele Gigante. There were four men in the SUV. The two other passengers were transported to an area hospital for care. The driver did not require medical treatment.

The initial investigation indicated that when the men's SUV was hit, the impact propelled it into a tree and spun it, Gigante said. She said it was believed the sedan that hit the SUV was traveling at a high rate of speed.

The car that struck the SUV was driven by 24-year-old Reena Ashlie Sanchez, Gigante said. Sanchez' 1-year-old and 2-year-old children were secured in car seats.

The children were not hurt. They were placed in the care of Child Protective Services while their mother was transported to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Late Sunday morning, Sanchez was arrested and booked into Sacramento County Jail on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter while driving under the influence of alcohol and child endangerment, both felonies.

Sanchez' bail was set at $250,000.
