Rubio’s New Sustainable Shrimp Tacos

Rubio’s New Sustainable Shrimp Tacos

If you know me, you know I love shrimp. Grilled, pan fried, deep fried, coconut battered – you name it, I love it. So it should come as no surprise that when the SacFoodies were offered the chance to try Rubio’s new sustainable shrimp offerings, I jumped on the opportunity.

While I’ve always been a fan of Rubio’s shrimp tacos, I recently made a lifestyle change that prohibits me from eating non-sustainable meat. As you can imagine, this modification eliminated many of my favorite quick lunch/dinner stops. El Parian

El Parian

I've been in North Highlands a lot lately and tried this taqueria. I got three tacos for $1.90 a pop. Dang! They were good but I'm not going to pay that much for the smaller sized, taco truck tacos. I'll just hit up a truck next time and save a couple of bucks.

If you're there I recommend the Al Pastor.

Sac Crawfish

Sac Crawfish

Of course I'm going to stop and eat when I see a crawdad restaurant. I ordered a pound of 'em with one corn and one sausage and extra hot. I was eating alone and this is a thing to do with a group of friends so I looked a little strange... but who cares? It's kinda like eating sunflower seeds, it's a whole lot of work for a little gratification. It was good but next time I think I'll get the shrimp. It was a little pricey with my wallet wieghing just under $15 lighter after this meal. This place is in the shopping center on the northeast corner of 65th st Expy and Stockton Blvd.
